I’ll be adding to this post up to New Years Eve with events going on in Greenpoint!
On behalf of all the Greenpointers I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas weekend! But now the real partying begins… NYE 2010!
Here’s a round-up of what’s going down this New Years Eve in da ‘pernt. Stay local and crawl home – It’s safer than driving, cheaper than a cab and more reliable than the G.
How does a romantic little snug for you and your best two couple friends at Black Rabbit for New Years Eve sound? Well parties of 5 or more can reserve one for the whole night, but I suggest you do that like right now. Ooo & free party favors!
The Habitat does their NYE no frills style. No cover, $1 off drafts & well drinks from 12-2am and a midnight champagne toast. Oh and NO FIGHTING!
Speaking of no fighting, Papacito’s is holding a NYE bash featuring a band and a DJ at midnight. Not to mention their tequila toast and the kitchen & bar are open until 4am. And if all else fails you can always recuperate there on New Years Day with brunch and $5 bloody mary’s. Facebook event here.
New Years Eve 10 p.m.-4 a.m. Tequila Toast & Live performance by Willpilot (Colin on drums)@Midnight Dave from Willpilot spins soul, funk and rock before and after the band. Kitchen and bar open till 4 am. Kat, Colin, Sara, Rick, Calvin, Mark and Larissa workin’ the joint

Red Star rocks out again this year with their annual New Years Extravaganza with live DJ’s spinning all night and some easy all-inclusive options for the night.
This year Red Star is offering two options to ring in the New Year at Greenpoint’s hottest new party destination. For $75/head, patrons are treated to options of a prix fix 4 course menu from executive chef John Manzo’s kitchen, a 5 hour premium open bar, and champagne toast at midnight (reservations recommended).
For the non dining set, Red Star is offering a $50 four hour premium open bar with a champagne toast at midnight, and the full menu will be available for al a carte dining. Facebook event here.
The Diamond is hosting a New Years Eve Dance party in their basement, which actually is a pretty decent little underground room.
Come Dancing Underground at the Diamond, this Thurs., New Years Eve. It doesn’t happen without YOU. Dancing commences @10:30.
GPT newbie bar Blackout hosts their first NYE with Soul Imperial and offering a free midnight champagne toast & $5 beer and shot specials. Facebook event here.
Blackout New Year’s Eve Party! Music by Soul Imperial Free Champagne Toast at Midnight! No Cover! $5 beer + shot specials! Located at 916 Manhattan Ave (between Greenpoint Ave and Kent St) in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Half a block from the Greenpoint Ave G stop.

NEW YEAR’s eve 2010 Thursday Dec. 31st 9pm Free!!! If you hate dealing with covers and waiting on lines, come celebrate New Year’s Eve at Berry Park! Watch the Fire Works from our rooftop!! LIVE Ball Drop at Midnight DJs spinning all night
The Richardson is upping the ante by having a two-day extravaganza with no cover charge & midnight champagne toast on NYE and a New Years Day pork-a-thon.
We will be dressing up to-the-9′s to ring in 2010! Put on your fancy duds and come steppin’ out with us this Thursday night. There is no cover charge and, of course, we’ll be pouring complimentary bubbly at midnight.
If you have a group of people you are spending the evening with, shoot us an email (info@therichardsonnyc.com) and we’ll make a reservation for you – and we still have room in the Parlor, as well!
In addition to New Year’s Eve, we will also be celebrating New Year’s Day! Our kitchen will be serving our regular menu ALL day Friday, from 12Noon – 2am. Also, in a nod to my Pennsylvania Dutch upbringing, a sizable Pork Loin will be going in the oven as soon as we open… When it’s finished roasting (around 5pm), we will be serving free Pork & Sauerkraut for as long as it lasts! (It is a proven Pennsylvania Dutch fact that the consumption of Pork & Sauerkraut on New Year’s Day gives one Good Luck for the next full year!)
And yet another newbie bar, Manhattan Inn is throwing their hat into the ring with a party featuring what to me sounds like the best DJ choices of classic rock and old school hip-hop, plus some $5 party menu eats and the ever popular free midnight champagne toast. Facebook event here.
It’s not just a new year – it’s a new decade!!! Come celebrate with us! Love Deluxe (Will & Simon of Amazing Baby) will be spinning classic rock & old school hip hop from 11pm til 4am.
We’ll be serving a special $5 party menu of small eats, and there will be a FREE champagne toast at midnight!
So Kill Devil Hill is all cleared out but they’re not closing… they plan to re-open on April Fool’s Day with a bang but what’s going on for the next few months?
Apparently they’re getting in on the pop-up shop business. In February and March you can rent the Kill Devil Hill storefront space for your own event, shop, art opening or whatever.
A Store Front – 2 Rooms Front room: 21 ft x 9 ft Back room: 9.5 ft x 10.5 ft Ceilings: 10.5 ft high

How cute!!! Everyone knows I’m a dog person. I love cats, too, but I’m slightly allergic and well since almost everyone falls into one or the other – I fall into the dog person category. In my small apartment I feel like I can’t really have one unless he’s a little guy and I’m big dog kinda gal.
But either way, this calendar of the pups at Cooper Bark is the CUTEST!! You can swing by Muddy Paws and pick one up for that dog lover sotcking stuffer (or just for yourself!).
The 2010 fundraising calendar has arrived! Makes a great gift. Previous year’s calendars paid for the furniture and fencing so help support next year’s projects. Send $15 via paypal to info@cooperbark.org. Make sure to include your name and contact info. Add $5 S&H if you want us to mail it. Happy Holidays!
PS the calendar is also on sale at Muddy Paws between Frost/Richardson 447 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211 – (718) 349-3647 – Open Weekdays 10am-9pm; Weekends 11am-8pm

I got an email from a reader who’d like to volunteer in the neighborhood on Christmas Day, does anyone know where her generosity might be needed?
So its a bit last minute, but I was wondering if you know of any places in the neighborhood that need a hand on Christmas day. This will be the first year I am staying in the city alone and would like to do something productive instead of just sitting around. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks…and happy holidays.
